The Qabalah and Me, Part I

This new year, I picked up a used copy of a book that is supposed to help "one better understand the Qabalah."  The book was written by author Will Parfitt; the title is The New Living Qabalah: A Practical Guide to Understanding the Tree of Life.  All that said, this past week, I started the book and managed to get through two exercises to get the journey rolling.  The first exercise recommended by the author was to think of an image that represents what the understanding the Qabalah means to me, and then to draw it out.  So I did.

The image that popped into my head?  A fruiting dandelion...so I drew that out.

The next step was to think of a place that brought me happiness...any place in the world.  To be honest, to me, that place is to be on the shores of Lake Superior.  So I imagined myself there...concentrated on the experiences there, and then brought myself back to my bedroom and stated "I am here."  I did that a couple of times, and wow...did I become relaxed.  My brain started to "chill out," and I was surprised that a bit of "mellow mind" hit me.  I'm usually full of thoughts at night.  Still, I guess...who could be surprised...Lake Superior is amazing:

I was going to keep going, but honestly, I was exhausted after these two exercises.  Call me a "magical wimp," but starting this book at 9 AM CST, after a day of work, got to me.  So I called it good and planned to start it again the next night...and to bed I went.

I didn't really think much of it the next morning when I woke up at 5 AM.  I got dressed for a cold morning, managed to get our dog on our her leash, grabbed some poop bags, and walked out the back door with our dog nearby.  As I turned to the right, once outside of our home, I saw a white light in the sky some (I don't know...) 100 ft angled in front of me, at a 45 degree angle from my head.  I saw it briefly and then it disappeared.  My first thought was "what was that?", and assumed it was a planet.  Yet the sky was highly cloudy.  I then thought maybe it was a plane; but again, it didn't seem to move.  It was almost like a flashlight turned on in the sky, and then once I acknowledged it, it turned off.  Odd.

To this day, I think there is a strong possibility I imagined it.  Yet...why? My brain most certainly could be playing tricks on me, but I honestly feel I saw it.  Since I've seen it, I haven't stopped thinking about it. There was nothing highly strange about the experience; there were no aliens or waving parties on the light...it was just a light.  Not even our dog seemed bothered by it.

Not an important post to share, but I thought it was something worth documenting...so here it is, Universe.  We'll see if anything more comes of it.
